East County is a great place to live and raise our families, work and conduct business, and enjoy recreation. We are striving to make East County a place to be proud of—a place with opportunities, safe neighborhoods and desirable areas to live for all of its citizens. To reach these goals, we seek to unify efforts among progressive individuals and organizations to elect candidates who are socially progressive, fiscally responsible, and ethically honorable.

We believe that our elected officials should serve the interests of working people, families, the poor, the middle class, small businesses, minorities, the sick, the elderly, and our children.

We support the rights and liberties of all Americans and respect the sanctity of the Constitution.

Our vision is to elect candidates who embody these ideals to represent East County at all levels, from local offices to Congress. Because we have a two-party system, our support will go primarily to advance the Democratic Party slate. However, we will hold our candidates to an even higher standard, assuring that they will pledge to serve the interests of our community and the people. In the event that there is a nonpartisan race with no Democrat on the ticket representing our values, ECU reserves the right to support another candidate whose values reflect our progressive focus.

ECU may also endorse or oppose ballot initiatives and causes reflective of our values. We seek to provide a consistent, united voice with a clear, concise message of our values and mission. We also seek to assist like-minded candidates to project that message to all voters.

Our goal is to provide a consistent foundation for progressive activism as well as specialized services, training and networking opportunities. We will provide a vehicle for East County progressives and progressive organization members to collaborate and strategize to present a united front. ECU ultimately strives to develop plans for outreach and organization to build the Democratic voter base in our area, working with the San Diego County Democratic Central Committee Political Action Director to assist goals of the Party while giving East County progressives a strong voice.
